Hup-hup-hup-hup!

Closed out the mountain bike racing this past weekend at Manawa. Now it's on to cyclocross. Ouch. Not quite sure if I'm ready for it. I'm more suited for riding my bike at a steady pace all day long, not balls to the wall for an hour. I can almost feel the lung sizzle and taste the metallic bloody mucus.

I need some inspiration....maybe this old pic from 2002 or was it 2003, with me leading Tony in a cross race at Pioneers Park will muster up some confidence. No, he's not lapping me. I was actually ahead of him. It was probably the 50th minute in the 60 minute race.

To be honest, Tony did have the flu and was as white as a sheet. But I was still beating him! At least for a little while. Shortly after this photo was snapped Tony passed me. Even on my best day on a cross bike and Tony's worst, I still couldn't beat him. Bastard.

Wuff!

The angry black dog greeted us on the way to Platte today. He came blastin' out of the trees and scared the crap out of Wes and I. He didn't give much of a chase, but had a mighty bark. Fobben was a bit behind us and surprisingly didn't get hassled. Hadn't seen this large black beast in a while. I was kinda wondering if he was still around. He's a Bacon ride legend. I had just finished warning Wes about a 250 pound Rottweiler that Winklepleck almost killed on a Bacon ride last year when the dog appeared. It's a Labrador. Ha!

On the way back home I had my camera out. The Angry Black Lab didn't disappoint. I got you sucka!

Branched Oak Area 7 is wicked!

Local Psycowpath race was held out at Branched Oak Area 7 today. The race was moved to Sunday and started a couple of hours later due to rain from a storm on Friday. Race Promoters, Troy, Craig and company, made the right call to postpone the event one day. The event went off without a hitch. Great job fellas!

Prior to the race I was a bit worried about mud, but was pleasantly surprised once I got out on the trail. There were some greasy spots which forced you to take it easy around some of the corners, but the trail ended up ideal after a few laps. The greasy corners turned into sticky flypaper. It was wicked.

The trail system out at Branched Oak Area 7 is very impressive. Kudos to Craig and company for all their hard work! After the race today the whole race loop should have a great big ole smooth line laid down. Got out there and check it out!

Look at that nice big smooth line
