American Gun

American Gun is opening at The Ross tomorrow night. Looks pretty good. The trailer shows how three lives are entangled on the slippery slope of guns in America. Is the 2nd amendment antiquated for our America? Maybe, but those of you that know me, know I like guns.
I don't like the fact that guns are used to kill people, but if you look at the hard facts, tobacco and alcohol kill far more people every year. Shit, even cars kill more people than guns. Cars are also killin' everything on this planet. Let's ban cars first. It'll do everyone and everything on this planet a world of good.
To me, a gun is a machine. Much like a bike. There are thousands of machines that can be used lethally if a person chooses to do so. I know what you're thinkin'....guns are made to kill. Maybe so. But not all guns. The guns that I own may have been used to kill people in the past, but now they're used as reminders of our past mistakes. Most of my guns were made during WWII. They are classified as C & R guns (Curio and Relic). Anyone can buy one of these guns. Yes, they are still fully functional, but I hardly shoot them. I want to preserve a piece of history. A piece of the greatest war ever fought, a piece of the greatest generation to ever live in contemporary times, a piece of the madness the changed the world for the better, a piece of a conflict that brought the world together, and a piece of history to reminder us of who we were and of who we don't want to become.
